Mikhail Mishchenko, Director of Dairy Intelligence Agency, during his speech at the Dairy Bridge event (organized by WWS Russia) noted that the Russian cheese market before the pandemic had a lot of surplus production. Several regions have faced this problem, which is why in the future a number of manufacturers will simply leave the market, The DairyNews reports.

‘The cheese market in Russia is overheated. We observe that before the pandemic, several regions, in particular, Altai region, faced the problem of surpluses. If, for example, EkoNiva completes its plant in Novosibirsk, then many Altai cheese makers will have to leave the market. They will simply have nowhere to supply cheese,’ Mikhail Mishchenko said.

The expert added that in the current situation, it is worth dealing with other dairy products and paying attention to the development of exports.

Earlier, The DairyNews, with reference to Dairy Intelligence Agency, reported that the pandemic had a positive impact on both the dairy and food industries.
