World prices for dairy products increased by 3.9% - FAO

The value of the FAO Dairy Product Price Index increased by 3.9 percent compared to its February level, reported in the press service of the organization to The DairyNews.

The increase in prices for butter is mainly due to a slight reduction in supply in Europe and an increase in demand due to the expected resumption of the catering sector.

Prices for milk powder also rose as a result of increased imports from Asian countries, especially China, amid a seasonal decline in milk production in Oceania and a shortage of shipping containers in Europe and North America.

Earlier, we reported that the price index for dairy products at the auction of Global Dairy Trade increased by 0.3%.
