The ‘IDF Global Dairy Conference 2021’ will have its venue at Axelborg in the centre of Copenhagen on the 13th – 15th October and will be organised by the Danish Dairy Board. Up to 350 people will be able to attend in person and hundreds more on-line. Registration for the event has recently opened on the IDF Global Dairy Conference homepage.
The agenda of the conference is scheduled by a working group headed by the director of the Danish Dairy Board Brussels, Ms Kirsten Holm Svendsen. “The general theme of the conference is ‘A Changing Climate for Dairy’. In other words, it deals with the work on climate solutions carried out by the dairy industry itself, and how the surrounding world – the political and economic conditions – currently changes due to national and international climate goals”, says Ms Kirsten Holm Svendsen.

The conference will open with welcome speeches by Danish Minister for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries Rasmus Prehnand and EU Commissioner Stella Kyriakides. This will be followed by the Dairy Leaders Panel, whereupon several CEOs of dairy companies will showcase their visions for the global dairy sector over the coming years and discuss several strategies and visions of their respective companies to nourish the world with safe, nutritious, and sustainable dairy products. The panel will begin with CEO Peder Tuborgh, Arla Foods (Denmark), followed by CEO Phillipe Palazzi, Lactalis (France), CEO Jeffrey Lu, Mengniu (China) and President & CEO Rick Smith, Dairy Farmers of America (USA). The session will end with a panel discussion where top dairy managers will discuss the opportunities and challenges within the dairy sector. Dr Judith Bryans, lead of IDF Task Force on the UN Food Systems Summit will also share the highlights of the Summit and the impacts on the dairy sector. The IDF Forum will be an occasion to invite participants to learn about the work of the organization.

The core of the three-day conference will be a wide range of dairy-related presentations and debates in six sessions with the following headlines: Food Safety, Processing & Technology, Sustainable Diets, Farming, Politics & Economics and Marketing. All sessions revolve around the conference theme ‘A Changing Climate for Dairy’, and all presentations will be available live on-line for those registered.

IDF Director General, Caroline Emond says:

“We look forward connecting with our worldwide dairy community at the IDF Global Dairy Conference 2021 in Copenhagen and virtually. The cancellation of the IDF World Dairy Summit 2020 and 2021 due to the covid-19 pandemic has been difficult and we are thankful to our colleagues in Denmark for accepting to host this year event which will give us the opportunity to share the latest on dairy and discuss the challenges and opportunities for our sector”.
