Until now, manufacturers of reconstituted milk have been forced to use a less attractive name for consumers - "milk drink" instead of "reconstituted milk" when confirming its compliance and labeling.

Changes to the technical regulations determine that reconstituted milk is a dairy product packaged in consumer containers, or raw materials for the production of milk processing products, except for drinking milk, produced from concentrated, condensed or dry dairy products and water.

"The changes will allow honest producers of reconstituted milk to identify it, pack it in consumer packaging and release it into circulation as reconstituted milk", the EEC added.

The decision of the EEC Council comes into force after 180 calendar days from the date of official publication on the Commission's website.
