The share of the population below the poverty line is 13.5% - Putin
‘That's a lot,’ the president said. – However, we have a long-term plan. By 2030, we need to move fr om today's 13.5% to 6.5% of the population living below the poverty line. It is bad that the percentage of people in distress will remain, but we must proceed from the realities.
The President also touched upon the issue of rising prices. He noted that somewhere they are growing objectively, due to the increase in the cost of components due to the difference in exchange rates.
‘But wh ere the price increase is not related to objective circumstances, it cannot but cause a sharp reaction,’ Putin added. - With a record harvest exceeding 130 million tons, and perhaps it will reach 134 million tons, bread and pasta cannot grow in price. The same applies to sugar, we supported domestic producers, but not to increase prices. The head of the ministry of agriculture told me that there is enough for domestic consumption. But how is it enough if the price has increased by 75%?
According to Putin, this is due to rising prices on world markets. Exports increased, and domestic prices began to drag up to global ones. This is unacceptable.
‘The main thing now is that the government does not go too far with administrative measures,’ the president added. - It was necessary to adjust customs duties. These tools are well known, it was just necessary to react in time. I hope this will happen. Now an agreement between manufacturers and retail chains is at the stage of signing. Both parties should reduce prices for basic food products. This should happen in the next few days or at most weeks.
