The new president of IDF Pierchristiano Brazzale: we intend to strengthen cooperation with our old partners

IDF’s role during the pandemic:

-During this difficult 2020, FIL-IDF has demonstrated an exceptional capability of reaction and resilience, being able to continue to work both internally via numerous and extremely interesting webinars for the benefit of all the stakeholders, several virtual meetings but also continuing to work with the organizations with whom we collaborate, not least the participation in the work of general assembly of Codex, in which I also participated with an active and high level team.

-And so, just like FIL-IDF, our dairy farmers and dairy processors as well as everyone else involved in the dairy supply chain have continued to work tirelessly to ensure there are enough nutritious dairy foods available for consumers around the world even in these very difficult times.

 -We have always been by the farmers’ side providing the scientific technical support, which is crucial in overcoming this difficult stage.

The new president of IDF told about the company's plans for the future:

- I will try to do my best to make the role of the FIL-IDF more and more central, which I believe is and should continue to be the point of scientific technical reference in the dairy sector.

- IDF, I believe should continue to base itself on our focus areas, Nutrition and Health, Safety/Quality, but also focus much more than previously on sustainability due to every present attention from public opinion on environmental and social topics. In this era of misinformation and confusion, we need to promote the nutritional value and the integrity of dairy products even more. We provide nutrition to many people around the world with our products, dairy products are a fundamental part of a healthy diet and this is exactly why food safety and food standards must remain our top priority.

- Furthermore, in connection with all this, we must continue to promote and elaborate the best practices in animal health, animal welfare and farm management, to meet the increasingly pressing and frequent requests of consumers.

- On this matter, it is my intention to reinforce the relationships and collaborations with all the institutions and organizations with whom we work: FAO, WHO, ISO, CODEX and OIE.

Remind, Piercristiano Brazzale was elected President of the international dairy Federation (IDF) on November 2. He will succeed Dr Judith Bryan, chief Executive of Dairy UK, who was elected President of the organization at the IDF world dairy summit in 2016 in Rotterdam. We wrote about this earlier.
