The new plant for the production of cheese in Kuban will be the largest in Europe
"A large plant for the production of cheese with milk processing volume up to 450 tons per day is now being put into operation in Vyselkovsky district of the region. It will probably be the largest cheese factory in Europe", he said.
Mr. Korobka noted that the production of cheese in Kuban in recent years is actively developing under the program of import substitution, but not all cheeses produced in Kuban are still able to compete with foreign counterparts. According to the first Vice-Governor of Krasnodar region, this is due to the fact that initially when expanding cheese production in the region, the emphasis was on the volume of products.
"But in Kuban there are cheeses that are not inferior to foreign analogues. These are mainly products of small enterprises. We have built at least a dozen cheese factories in the region thanks to the Federal program to support animal husbandry at the level of family farms. Farm products are willingly placed on the shelves of retail chains", he said.
In August 2014 Russia imposed restrictions on imports of food products from the EU, the United States, Canada, Australia and Norway - countries that had imposed sanctions against Russia. Meat, sausages, fish and seafood, vegetables, fruits, dairy products, including cheeses and nuts were under the ban. Later, the food embargo was extended, it is valid until now.
