On January 22, the Ministry of agriculture and fisheries of Karelia held a press conference on the results of activities of agricultural enterprises for the production of milk in 2019 and plans for 2020. In fact, the briefing was devoted to the situation around the agricultural enterprise “Mayak”. The head of the Ministry, Vladimir Labinov, gave examples of the development of production of other dairy farms in the region and their use of state support measures.

According to the Minister, the activity of the enterprise "Mayak" is on the decline due to improper management. Last year, the farm produced not enough roughage, so the cows did not get the required amount, the number animals in the herd decreased, the milk yield fell, and the sales of products decreased, which led to the loss of potential profits. Due to the fact that the total debt of LLC “Mayak” has grown, the company has not received financial support from the state.

According to Vladimir Labinov, the government of the Republic cannot provide assistance to the company because of the owner's intractability. The Ministry appealed to the Prosecutor's office in order to check the activities of the farm for deliberate bankruptcy.
