There are no failures in the supply of dairy products and a shortage of them in retail chains, reported in the National Union of milk producers (Soyuzmoloko) to The DairyNews.

According to Soyuzmoloko, companies do record a slight increase in demand for both long-term storage categories - cheese, butter, ultra-pasteurized milk, and the so-called “fresh” category - kefir, yogurt, cottage cheese. The latter are often purchased by consumers in an increased volume as part of the general inventory formation in case of possible quarantine. At the same time, the increase in sales does not exceed 10-15% and does not put serious pressure on the market.

However, members of the Union report that in the event of a more intensive growth in demand due to the excitement against the background of the spread of coronavirus, enterprises are ready to load additional capacity by 20-30%.

Market players also report that all necessary security measures have been taken at production sites: premises are additionally equipped with decontamination agents, additional measures are being taken to treat all buildings and vehicles, and security measures have been taken to identify personnel with the first signs of illness. These measures will not affect the smooth operation of the industry and the provision of dairy products to citizens.

"As for the risks of supplying the necessary imported components and components for dairy farming and processing enterprises, Soyuzmoloko has already prepared a list of sensitive positions", said Artem Belov, General Director of the Union. "Together with the Ministry of agriculture of Russia and other authorities, we will carefully monitor the continuity of supplies of necessary goods in order to avoid difficulties for businesses”.

As Belov notes, the situation is also under control and remains stable in terms of increasing export supplies of dairy products. “Traditional countries-buyers of Russian milk (mainly CIS members) have not reduced the volume of purchases, and new directions - Asia, Africa, the Middle East - are still being developed”, explained the head of the Union. "We continue to work on export guides, obtaining the necessary permits, reducing the administrative burden, improving logistics conditions, and we expect that deliveries will be made when the problem of the spread of coronavirus is resolved".
