According to the Chairman of the Board of the Union of organic agriculture Sergey Korshunov, the labels "Eco" and "Bio", applied to products, require the creation of a regulatory framework. This was said by the expert in an interview with the correspondent of The DairyNews.

"Roskachestvo offers to refer labels "Eco" and "Bio" to organic products, and the most correct would be to prepare a specific regulatory base for them. We have always advocated the introduction of a certain gradation - in my understanding, organic products by international standards - would be at the top of this chain. What is below - the transition way from conventional agriculture to the maximum and ideologically organic farm", - said Sergey Korshunov.

Previously, The DairyNews reported, citing "Izvestiya" that Roskachestvo proposes to limit the free use of labeling products with tags "eco", "organic" and "farm product" and considers it necessary to equate the first two concepts to organic. Farm products are proposed to give a new definition and prescribe special requirements.

It became known yesterday that Roskachestvo intends shortly to check the most popular organic products among citizens of Russia, as well as strawberry yogurt. According toHead of the organization Maxim Protasov, according to the results of research it is important to identify whether the “Organic products" on the shelves of Russian stores correspond to their names.
