"At the consumption of 249 kg per person per year, the Udmurt Republic produces 500 kg of milk per person – thus, the region shows a surplus in the field of milk production," the Minister said.
Olga Abramova also emphasized that the development of agriculture in the region is one of the priorities: "34% of the population lives in rural areas of Udmurtia – it is quite a serious weight in the population, which allows us to say that we have a rural region in which the development of such an industry as agriculture is very important. And the dairy industry plays a very important role here".
Earlier, Mikhail Mishchenko, Director of the Russian Dairy Research Center (DIA), during the conference at the Kirovsky dairy plant, noted that the Udmurt Republic is the only region of Russia that produces commercial milk more than at the end of the 80-ies of the last century, and without small holdings.
