‘Leningrad region actively supports the dairy industry, and we have already achieved great success. Last year, more than 650 thousand tons of milk were produced, as for Holstein breed, 10 enterprises exceeded the milk yield level of 11 thousand liters per cow, the best 4 enterprises - 15 thousand liters per cow. There is a good potential that makes it possible to move forward, even in this dry year,’ Oleg Malashchenko said.
The expert added that the region is actively working with forage conservation - about 445 thousand tons were harvested in 2020. ‘Leningrad farmers are actively involved in grain production, although there was no such need for Leningrad region earlier,’ the official said.
