Moscow and Moscow region increased the shortage of milk for industrial consumption

As follows from the materials of the Dairy Intelligence Agency (DIA), Moscow and Moscow region increased the shortage of milk for industrial consumption by 61% to 1.2 million tons, reports The DairyNews.

According to DIA analysts, milk production in the region is growing too slowly, not keeping up with the growth rate of milk processing. Production in the region increased by 0.5%, processing by 33%, which increased the influence of Moscow on the weighted average price of milk in Russia.

In addition, the shortage of milk in Altai region increased by 18.5% to 406 thousand tons. Krasnodar region and Bryansk region have changed places, in Krasnodar region the deficit decreased by 7 % to 288 thousand tons due to the growth of milk production, Bryansk region, on the contrary, increased the deficit due to a decrease in production and growth in processing.

Chelyabinsk region left the top 10 due to an increase in production (+2%) and a decrease in processing (-13.5%), the region went down to the 15th position. At the same time, the TOP 10 importers included Belgorod region, where milk production increased by 7.5%, processing increased by 27%, the region became deficient, self-sufficiency in milk decreased from 7.7 thousand tons to -83.7 thousand tons.
