Director of DairyIntelligence Agency (DIA) commented on the prospects for the impact of integration processes between Russia and Belarus on the dairy market of the Russian Federation. According to Mikhail Mishchenko, Russia may lose the levers of balance management in the market.
‘As a result of the erasure of economic borders between the countries, Russia may lose some levers of managing the balance in the market,’ the expert noted.
The regulation of the dairy industry was often used to solve political issues, Mikhail Mishchenko stressed:
‘If necessary, the import of products from Belarus could be temporarily stopped. If the integration between the countries is more dense, such levers will most likely no longer be able to be used. At the same time, integration with Belarus may expand opportunities for exporting dairy products from Russia. Russia's export potential to the market of Kazakhstan may also increase.
