"In Kirov region in 1980 there were about 400 thousand heads of cattle, now – 87 thousand. At the same time, milk yields have grown significantly since then. If we compare the level of milk yield now with the number of cows in those days, it turns out that the region can produce about 3 million tons of milk per year. As you can see, Kirov region has a huge potential", Mikhail Mishchenko said.
According to the Russian Dairy Research Center, at present Kirov region produces 628 thousand tons of milk.
The expert also cited data about the other two regions that will host the Motor Rally "Way to milk!". Both in the Republic of Bashkortostan and the Udmurt Republic there is room for growth: milk production can potentially increase from 719 thousand tons to 3 million tons in Bashkiria and from 701 thousand tons to 1.5 million in Udmurtia.
The VIII All-Russian Motor Rally "Way to milk!" has been held annually for 8 years. The event brings together all participants of the dairy industry: managers of livestock farms and dairy plants, as well as representatives of the government and the media.
