Liter index DIA: growth in all positions in February 2021
DIA analysts calculated Liter Index based on Rosstat data on the monthly nominal salary of Russians and prices for drinking milk (whole, pasteurized, with a fat content of 2.5-3.2%), mineral and drinking water, and table grape wine with a strength of up to 14%. The Liter Index is the volume of drinking milk, water and wine in liters per month that Russians can buy on a salary.
If we convert the nominal salary of Russians for February 2021 into liters, we will get 868.3 liters of drinking milk (3.4% more than in January 2021 and 7.6% more than in February 2020) or 1427 liters of drinking water (2.8% more than in January 2021 and 3.1% more than in February 2020) or 111.7 liters of wine (3.1% more than in January 2021 and 0.3% less than in February 2020). In addition, DIA analysts calculated how many liters of raw milk can be bought for a nominal salary per month based on the Dairy Index DIA, the Liter Index of raw milk was 1752 (2.8% more than in February 2021 and 1.75% less than in February 2020).
The growth of Litre Index in February 2021 was driven by an increase in nominal wages, while prices for these products compared to January 2021 increased slightly. Compared to February 2020, there was also an increase in the index, except for Liter Index of raw milk, as the price of raw milk (Dairy Index DIA) increased significantly.
