Kirov region, one of the leading regions in the production of raw milk, reduces the output of cheese products and increases the production of milk powder, writes The DairyNews with reference to data from the Dairy Intelligence Agency (DIA).
In 2019, the production of powdered dairy products continued to grow in the Russian Federation. According to the Dairy Intelligence Agency, in 2019 the production of skimmed milk powder by Russian enterprises increased to 114.7 thousand tons. Production of whole milk powder reached 58.8 thousand tons.

At the same time, in 2019, the production of milk-containing products began to decrease, for example, the production of cheese products decreased by 9% to 189 thousand tons in 2019.

This trend is also observed in Kirov region, where in 2019, the production of skimmed milk powder increased by 36% compared to 2018 to 3974 tons, the output of cheese products decreased by 76% to 238 tons in 2019.

At the same time, Kirov region remains one of the largest milk exporting regions in Russia, the volume of processing is significantly lower than the volume of raw milk production. Raw milk production in Kirov region in 2019 increased by 9.4% to 687.6 thousand tons, the volume of milk processing increased by 15% to 300 thousand tons. The raw material base of the region allows us to further increase the production of dairy products.
