Kharon Adievich Amerkhanov is a specialist in breeding, selection and genetics of agricultural animals and technology of production of livestock products. He is the Academician of RAS (2013), Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences (2010, member since 2005), Doctor of agricultural Sciences (2001), Professor (2002), Class 2 Active State Councilor of the Russian Federation. From 2016 to September 2019 he was Director of the Department of livestock and breeding of the Ministry of agriculture of Russia, Deputy head of livestock department from 1997 to 2004 and since 2008.
In May 2016, Kharon Amerkhanov replaced Vladimir Labinov, the current Minister of agriculture of Karelia.
