In 2021, the increase in production of commercial milk in Russia was 2% - Artem Belov
According to the expert, the main development stratum was observed in 2014 as part of the high devaluation of the ruble. Over the past 6-7 years, the average annual growth rate of commercial milk was about 3%, while in 2020 the figures reached almost 5%.
According to Soyuzmoloko estimates, Russia currently produces about 23 million tons of commercial milk per year.
In 2021, the growth rate was about 2%, which, according to the expert – is a negative trend. At the same time, Artem Belov noted that the decline was mainly observed in the traditional leading regions - in Krasnodar, Vologda and Altai regions.
‘In general, the situation developed quite favorably. However, at the same time, we now see a number of risks. The 25 largest milk-producing regions show positive production dynamics, but since the beginning of the year, the growth rate has actually decreased 3 times. The increase in the cost of milk production leads either to a decrease in the productivity of animals, or to a change in the profile of farms in a number of regions,’ said Artem Belov.
