Georgy Zhitmarev: The cost of the labeling code for the dairy industry should be reduced from 60 kopecks to six
According to him, after the introduction of mandatory labeling since June 1, 2021, Piskarevsky dairy plant will have to spend 200 million rubles annually only on the purchase of codes. According to various estimates, it will cost milk processors 12-20 billion rubles nationwide. If we take into account that last year the financial support for the entire dairy industry amounted to 28 billion rubles, then, as Zhitmarev noted, this year we will return half of this money by buying labeling codes. This is without taking into account the cost of application and anything else.
‘It is likely that when the payment for the labeling code was calculated, fur coats, for example, which are sold, say, 100 thousand a year, were taken as a basis,’ the expert shared his view on the situation. And then we included dairy products, the sale of which is from 20 to 50 billion packages per year.
Addressing the Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev, the head of the dairy plant said:
‘Let the CATD report what the cost of production of the labeling code is, and the government will introduce a fixed mark-up. Then the costs of the 20 billion rubles that the dairy industry will spend annually on labeling as payment for the code will be significantly reduced. Everyone needs this money. Both milk processors and milk producers.
Dmitry Patrushev, in turn, noted that the CATD claims that 60 kopecks is the cost price without additional surcharges. At the congress, the relevant minister instructed his deputy Oksana Lut to hold another meeting on a topic of concern to everyone.
‘Let's open the cards and show how the cost of the brand code is formed, so that representatives of our dairy industry do not feel that they are performing a state task, giving someone the financial resources that should belong to them by right,’ he said.
