Food Union invests 6.2 million euros in new production of dairy desserts

The new site will produce curd snacks, yoghurts, desserts, creams and cream cheeses under the Kārums brand, as well as fresh cheeses and ice cream.

JSC Rīgas Piena Kombināts (Riga dairy plant) owned by Food Union has built a factory for the production of curd snacks at a cost of 2.25 million euros in the first stage of the project, which started in 2018.

Another 3.25 million euros were spent on the purchase of new production equipment. The project is expected to be completed by the end of the year with a total investment of 6.25 million euros (569 million rubles).

‘The history of Kārums' changes began with the need to increase the production capacity of curd desserts and snacks due to growing demand,’ said Normunds Stanevics, CEO of Food Union Europe.

‘We saw potential both in further strengthening of the Kārums brand in the Baltic States, which has become the home market of Kārums', and in export markets. Using new technologies, updating the packaging and its design, we will be able to fully work at a new, extensive and sustainable production,’ said Normunds Stanevics.

It is also reported that new product formats will be released under the Kārums brand in the near future.
