DIA updated regional statistics on the Milk Map
The latest data on the dynamics of key indicators of the development of the dairy market in Russian regions is now available on the DIA Milk Map.
In 2020, raw milk production in Russia amounted to 20.7 million tons, 5.4% higher than in 2019 and 30% higher than in 2013. At the same time, in the first quarter of 2021, there was a slowdown in the growth rate of milk production compared to 2020, in January-March 2020, milk production in Russia increased by 7.7% compared to the corresponding period in 2019, in January-March 2021, the growth was only 2.3% to 4991.1 thousand tons.
The volume of milk processing in Russia in 2020 also increased, by 4.3% compared to 2019. In total, 20.4 million tons of milk were processed in 2020, an increase of 28.4% compared to 2013.
Production of dairy products in terms of milk in 2020 reached 25.2 million tons, 3.7% more than in 2019 and 26.4% more than in 2013.
The demand for milk increased by 7% compared to 2019 and amounted to 24.9 million tons. The growth compared to 2013 was 8.6%. It is worth noting that in 2020, DIA changed the methodology for calculating milk consumption per capita, instead of the balance approach, the Agency now calculates consumption based on data on the income of the population in the region and the share of costs for dairy products.
In general, 2020 was not a bad year for the Russian dairy market, with key indicators showing growth, but regional markets showed different dynamics.
