According to the application Index DIA the weighted average price of milk in Russia last week decreased by 0.4% to 24.26 rubles (about 0.34 euros)/kg, which is 13.4% higher than the price in July 2018. Prices for raw milk decreased in Altai region, the Republic of Tatarstan and Kursk region. At the beginning of the week, the rise in prices for raw milk was observed in Krasnodar region, Ulyanovsk and Tyumen regions.

The import price index decreased by 0.3% compared to last week to 29.31 rubles (about 0.41 euros)/kg; compared to July 2018, the growth rate was 6.4%. At the auction of BUCE the price of butter has increased by 0.5% to 395.3 rubles (about 5.51 euros)/kg. At the auction of Trigona Dairy Trade the price of butter and whey powder has decreased, the price of skim milk powder and cheese remained at the level of previous trades. The price of butter, taking into account the strengthening of the ruble has decreased by 1.5% to 257.6 rubles (about 3.59 euros)/kg, the price of cheddar has decreased by 0.17% to 221.8 rubles (about 3.09 euros)/kg, the price of skim milk powder has decreased to 146.7 rubles (about 2.05 euros)/kg. The price of whey powder fell by 1.6% to 47.9 rubles (about 0.67 euros)/kg.

The import price of a pair of skim milk powder + butter has decreased by 0.15% to 33.42 rubles (about 0.47 euros)/kg (1 kg in terms of milk). The import price of a pair of cheese + whey has decreased by 0.32% to 24.86 rubles (about 0.35 euros)/kg. The price of whole milk powder remained at the level of 22.94 rubles (about 0.32 euros)/kg.

Dairy Index DIA
Dairy Index DIA is calculated based on two key indicators, the weighted average price of milk in the Russian regions and the Index of import price. To calculate the weighted average price, the Center developed and launched a crowdsourcing application Index DIA, which allows accumulating current data on the prices of raw milk in the Russian regions from direct market participants, producers and processors of milk. The Index of import price is determined based on the prices of key exchange dairy products – skim milk powder, whole milk powder, butter, cheese and whey powder. The prices of imported dairy products are based on the prices of dairy products of the Belarusian universal commodity exchange (BUCE) and the prices at the sites of Trigona Dairy Trade and GlobalDairyTrade.
