According to the application Index DIA the weighted average price of milk in Russia last week decreased by 0.08% to 25.28 rubles (about 0.32 euros)/kg, which is 2.9% higher than the price in June in 2019. Prices for raw milk increased in Yaroslavl and Krasnodar regions. The decline in prices for raw milk was observed in Altai, Samara and Moscow regions.

The import price index increased by 0.8% to 31.04 rubles (about 0.39 euros)/kg, compared to June, 2019 the index is lower by 0.5%. DIA analysts updated import indicators; according to the latest data from the Federal customs service for April 2020, imports of key exchange-traded dairy products decreased compared to March 2020, and therefore the share of imports in the calculation of the Dairy index DIA decreased. At the same time, the share of a more expensive pair of cheese + whey has increased, in this regard, the price of imports in general has increased.
The price of Belarusian butter increased by 2.3% last week, the price of cheese increased by 0.4%, while the price of skimmed milk powder decreased by 0.74%, and the price of whey powder decreased by 5.4%. At the Trigona Dairy Trade auction, prices for butter, skimmed milk powder and whey powder decreased, while the price of cheese increased. The price of butter, taking into account the weakening of the ruble compared to the previous auction, increased by 0.03% to 259.12 rubles (about 3.27 euros)/kg, the price of cheddar increased by 3.11% to 259.12 rubles (about 3.27 euros)/kg, the price of skimmed milk powder decreased by 0.7% to 172.7 rubles (about 2.18 euros)/kg. The price of whey powder decreased by 1.1% to 58.9 rubles (about 0.74 euros)/ kg.
The import price of a pair of skimmed milk powder + butter increased by 0.57% to 30.11 rubles (about 0.38 euros)/ kg (1 kg in terms of milk). The import price of a pair of cheese + whey increased by 0.38% to 31.96 rubles (about 0.40 euros)/kg. The price of whole milk powder increased by 2.4% to 24.3 rubles (about 0.31 euros)/kg.

Dairy Index DIA
Dairy Index DIA is calculated based on two key indicators, the weighted average price of milk in the Russian regions and the Index of import price. To calculate the weighted average price, the Center developed and launched a crowdsourcing application Index DIA, which allows accumulating current data on the prices of raw milk in the Russian regions from direct market participants, producers and processors of milk. The Index of import price is determined based on the prices of key exchange dairy products – skim milk powder, whole milk powder, butter, cheese and whey powder. The prices of imported dairy products are based on the prices of dairy products of the Belarusian universal commodity exchange (BUCE) and the prices at the sites of Trigona Dairy Trade and GlobalDairyTrade.
