Источник: The DairyNews
On January 24, 2022 Dairy Index DIA amounted to 34.27 rubles (about 0.39 euro)/kg (excluding VAT, fat and protein content 3.6% and 3.0% respectively), which 2.4% higher than last week and 17.2% higher than in January 2021. The key factor in the growth of the index was the growth in the volume of imports of exchange-traded dairy products, which led to an increase in the share of the import price when calculating the indicator. The growth was also facilitated by an increase in prices for raw milk in Russian regions according to the Milk Price Index DIA application and an increase in prices for exchange-traded dairy products against the background of the weakening of the ruble.

The import price index increased by 0.18% to 43.96 rubles (about 0.51 euro)/kg, compared to January 2021, the indicator is 24% higher. A key factor in the decline of import prices was the increase in price for exchange-traded dairy products and the weakening of the ruble. At the Trigona Dairy Trade auction, the prices of skimmed milk powder, whey powder and cheese continued to grow; the price of butter remained at the level of the previous auction. The price of butter, taking into account the weakening of the ruble compared to the previous auction, increased by 2.8% to 499.2 rubles (about 5.74 euro)/kg, the price of cheddar increased by 5% to 416.7 rubles (about 4.79 euro)/kg, the price of skimmed milk powder increased by 4.2% to 316.9 rubles (about 3.65 euro)/kg. The price of whey powder increased by 3.6% to 115.9 rubles (about 1.33 euro)/kg.

At the 300th GlobalDairyTrade (GDT) auction on January 18, 2022, the price index for dairy products increased by 4.6%. Prices for all dairy products increased at the auction.

DIA has updated data on the volume of imports of exchange-traded dairy products according to the latest statistics of the Federal Customs Service. The volume of imports of butter, cheese, skimmed milk powder and whey powder has increased, only the volume of imports of whole milk powder has decreased. In calculating the import price, the shares of pairs cheese + whey and skimmed milk powder + butter increased, the share of whole milk powder decreased. The share of the import price in the calculation of Dairy Index DIA increased from 26.16% to 31.16% against the background of an increase in the total volume of imports of exchange-traded products, which became a key factor in the growth of the index. It is worth noting that the volume of imports of cheaper Belarusian products has increased, which has restrained the growth of import prices.

Dairy Index DIA
Dairy Index DIA is calculated based on two key indicators, the weighted average price of milk in the Russian regions and the import price index. To calculate the weighted average price, the Agency developed and launched a crowdsourcing application Index DIA, which allows accumulating current data on the prices of raw milk in Russian regions from direct market participants, producers and processors of milk. The import price index is determined based on the prices of key exchange dairy products – skimmed milk powder, whole milk powder, butter, cheese and whey powder. The prices of imported dairy products are based on the prices of dairy products of the Belarusian universal commodity exchange (BUCE) and the prices at the sites of Trigona Dairy Trade and GlobalDairyTrade.
