Artem Belov: the demand for dairy products is stagnating
‘The demand for milk and dairy products has stagnated over the past few years,’ said Artem Belov. ‘If we compare with 2013, there is no serious increase in demand. This is primarily due to the very unstable situation with incomes of the population, since 2013 they have decreased and now amount to 91% compared to the level of 2013. Despite the fact that Rosstat recorded a serious increase in income in the second quarter of this year, in reality, the level of income of the population is now lower than in 2019, we are simply recovering from a very sharp failure in 2020.
The average per capita consumption of "processed milk" on the Russian market, according to Soyuzmoloko estimates, is about 200 kg, the average per capita consumption, taking into account the production and consumption of milk in private households, is 240 kg.
We remind that according to DIA data, milk consumption per capita in Russia in 2020 amounted to 170,45 kg.
