It is stated in the presentation of the Deputy Minister of agrarian policy and food of Ukraine on European integration Olga Trofimtseva made during the national conference "Dairy business – 2017". According to Ministry forecasts, in 2018 exports will remain almost at the level of 2017 and will be about 455 thousand tons.
"Exports will remain almost at the level of the last year because next year major changes are not expected," commented Olga Trofimtseva. According to her, the main buyers of the domestic dairy products are the countries of the CIS, but Ukraine is also gradually opening markets of the European Union and Asia.
"We in cooperation with the State service of Ukraine on food safety and consumer protection are actively working on opening new markets. Such markets as Korea, China, African countries, middle East are very interesting for us from the point of view of export of dairy products," - said the Deputy Minister.
According to the Head of the Board of Directors of the Union of dairy enterprises of Ukraine Vadim Chagarovsky, for the first nine months of the current year Ukraine has exported dairy products at 368 million dollars, but our country needs to work to increase this figure.
"Exports of dairy products during the first 9 months of 2017 rose compared to 2016. The export of products has increased by almost all categories. But it's not enough, for the 9 months we have come to the amount of 368 million dollars, and the export potential of our country is much higher," he said. According to experts, at the end of the year, the exports of dairy products from Ukraine in monetary terms will amount to 450-500 million dollars.
According to the State fiscal service, exports of cheese from Ukraine in 2016 amounted to 8 thousand tons, which is 25.9% less than in 2015. Exports of non-concentrated milk and cream increased by 19.3% to 10.5 thousand tons, butter – by 2.5% to 12.1 thousand tons, condensed milk and cream decreased by 17.6%, to 51.9 thousand tons.
