In 2018 Russia may regain the status of net exporter of food (exports of agricultural products will exceed imports), lost in 1955, said the Head of the Ministry of agriculture of the Russian Federation Alexander Tkachev.
"Despite all the difficulties, we look to the future with optimism. Agriculture continues to develop dynamically, in the process of import substitution is actively going on", - said Tkachev, speaking at the All-Russian agronomical meeting.
"Sberbank analysts believe that in 2018 the agro-industrial complex of Russia can achieve a result that failed to be achieved for decades, and regain the status of net exporter of food, lost in 1955", - he added.
According to the Ministry of agriculture of the Russian Federation, the export of agricultural products in 2017 amounted to 20.1 billion dollars. The Federal customs service (FCS) of the Russian Federation has not published its assessment yet. According to the FCS, exports of foodstuffs and agricultural raw materials from Russia in 2016 made 17.07 billion dollars, import – 25.03 billion dollars.
