Tkachev has proposed to introduce criminal punishment for smuggling of agricultural products

Remember, at the initiative of the President of the Russian Federation smuggling products were started to destroy on the border. It has the strongest effect on (“grey” imports). Of course, (there should be introduced) the criminal prosecution, what else? That’s the only way! If it depended on my will, I would tightened it even more", - said Tkachev. 

Earlier, a similar initiative in relation to the smuggling of consumer goods and production of falsified products was expressed by the Head of the Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova.

The import of prohibited goods 

For 10 months of 2017, while restrictions on Turkish tomatoes to Russia were valid, about 150 thousand tons of these products were imported by smuggling, according to experts. However, the Rosselkhoznadzor noted that, in the end, the figure was even bigger.

"Assessment of grey import of tomatoes as 150 thousand tons is modest. I think there was delivered 250 thousand tons. We didn't see that this was happening? The country became the largest importer of tomatoes, the country became the largest importer of apples - 1.7 million tons, of which 900 thousand tons were from Poland (where from the delivery is prohibited)," said the Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor Sergey Dankvert.
