The Minister of agriculture of the Russian Federation Alexander Tkachev at the final Board of the Rosselkhoznadzor said that Minsk since the introduction of food embargo in 2014 increased the proportion of food supplies to the Russian market from 1% to 15%, thus becoming the largest transit point for sanctions products.
In August 2014 Russia restricted imports of products from countries that have imposed sanctions against it over the situation in Ukraine. A ban was meat, sausage, fish and seafood, vegetables, fruits, dairy products. Last year in June the embargo was extended till 31 December 2017.
