The Russian government will submit a proposal to the President about how to extend the action response to anti-Russian sanctions (food embargo) for one more year, until 31 December 2018, reports The DairyNews.
"Unfortunately, our European partners continue the unconstructive policy towards our country. Once again politics takes precedence over Economics and common sense. In this situation, we will react adequately. Therefore, (yesterday, we discussed this issue with the President) the Government will submit a proposal to the President about how to extend the retaliatory measures for one more year, until 31 December 2018", - said Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev at the Government meeting,.

The Prime Minister of the Russian Federation stressed that the position of the Russian authorities remains the same: the regime of mutual economic constraints is not practical.

"We have to take this step – in order to protect our national interests, and in order to support a very important sector of our economy, because, by introducing the retaliatory measures, we support the Russian agricultural sector. Farmers repeatedly asked us to extend such measures and to outline the perspective of how they will act in the near future. We do this, and I'm sure they will be able to take advantage of these opportunities in full," - said Dmitry Medvedev.

It has to be noted that currently the food embargo of the Russian Federation is valid until the end of 2017, reports The DairyNews.

Earlier it became known that the European Union extended economic sanctions against Russia for another six months.
