On October 25 in Naro-Fominsk district of Moscow region the company "Rota-Agro" has opened a dairy complex for 1980 milking cows, reports the correspondent of The DairyNews, who has attended the event.
The capacity of the new complex is 1980 milking cows with an estimated gross milk production 14 thousand tons per year, investments in the project exceeded 2 billion rubles, the company created more than 120 working places, said representatives of the investor.

The design of the dairy complex began in August of 2015, during the year the construction has been completed; the supplier of milking equipment was the company GEA.

"The main problem we faced was a very short period. In fact, the active phase of construction took less than a year. We had to give 120% to stay in the established chart. The second problem was the weather. This summer, it was very rainy in Naro-Fominsk district. However, the problem was solved; and thanks to our builders we have a chance to be present at the opening of the complex," - said during the opening ceremony of the dairy complex Boris Markosov, General Director of the building company "AgroBalt" which built the farm.

"The complex we opened here is a unique project for Moscow region from the point of view of application of technology and modern approach. Such a large-scale project in dairy cattle breeding has been implemented in the region for the first time during the last 10 years," said Andrei Razin, acting Minister of agriculture and food of Moscow region.

According to the words voiced by the official during the opening ceremony dairy livestock complexes for 9 thousand heads are planned to be constructed next year in three municipalities of Moscow region in Stupino, Volokolamsk and Lotoshinsk districts.

"If we talk about large farms, next year we plan to put into operation at least three large complexes. There will be over 9 thousand stalls", – said Andrey Razin, noting that by the end of 2016 in Moscow region they expect the volume of milk production in the amount of 640 thousand tons.

The representative of the Ministry of agriculture of the region also noted that Moscow region takes the fifth place in Russia in terms of milk production (excluding smallholders).

"Our goal is to make the agricultural sector attractive for investment," - said the official.

The complex "Rota-Agro" will produce 100 tons of milk per day. We hope that the sanctions will not be canceled. We sold the business center in Moscow and built a farm. Own funds invested in the project amounted to about 2 billion rubles. 60-70% of the equipment that is involved in the complex is of Russian production. We are going to purchase another 1200 heifers – this cost is included in the quoted amount of 2 billion rubles. We plan to pay back the project for 12-14 years. Project profitability is 8% per annum", - commented at the opening of the complex, Dmitry Sablin, the Deputy of the state Duma of the Russian Federation.
