SOUZMOLOKO forecasts Belorussian dairy productsimport growthin 2014
On February 26th Russian and Belorussian Agrarian Ministries met in Moscow to approve the balance sheet between two countries. According to the document export of milk powder and cheese from Belarus to Russia is projected to grow again.
Increased volumes of import from Belorussia has already impacted Russian dairy sector: Russian milk powder products production decreased by 8.7%, cheese and cheese products – by 4.3%.
Belarus violated the balance sheet terms in 2013: it exported to Russia 800 thousand of dairy products (on milk basis) more (+18%) than stated in the balance sheet. Exportofmilkwheygrewby 4.2 times, SMP – by 44%, WMP – by 43%, cheese – by 6%.
SOUZMOLOKO asked Russian Ministry of Agriculture to take into consideration interests of Russian market representatives when signing the balance document, but the volumes were decreased only for butter.
