Russian government to cut agricultural sector funding by 25 bln rubles

Russia’s State Duma approved the federal budget for 2014 in the first reading. Within the nearest three years budget spending is set to be cut by 5%. State Program of Agricultural Development until 2020 funding will also be decreased. Total agricultural sector spending in 2014-2016 will be cut by 25.4 bln rubles, though in 2014 it will increase by 5.5 bln rubles.

In 2014 agricultural sector funding may reach 167.8 bln rubles (instead of planned 162 bln rubles as per the Program passport), in 2015 – 165.6 bln rubles (175 bln rubles), in 2016 – 164.7 bln rubles (186 bln rubles). 

In 2014 it is planned to cut funding of the majority of agricultural sector fields: crop farming – 39.3 bln rubles instead of 43.4 bln rubles, livestock farming – 57.6 bln rubles instead of 61.9 bln rubles, beef farming – 6.7 bln rubles instead of 7.09 bln rubles, to farmers – 8.18 bln rubles instead of 8.62 bln rubles, technical progress – 1.9 bln rubles instead of 2 bln rubles, rural areas development – 8.99 bln rubles instead of 9 bln rubles. At the same time it is planned to increase financial support of the programs “Melioration Development Program” and “State Program Implementation Support” – to 7.9 bln rubles and 37.2 bln rubles accordingly.
