Russian companies are losing interest in Russian Dairy Union (RSPMO)

This thought became a talking point within a DairyNews interview with Tatiana Krikun, Head of Food Committee of the Consumer Market Participants Union. RSPMO (Russian Dairy Union) today represents a relatively small part of the Russian dairy market as far as multinational companies, Pepsico and Danone, have left it recently. Though this is RSPMO who is developing Technical Regulations for dairy industry as the Technical Committee for Standardization TC 470 is acting on the basis of RSPMO. RSPMO is also promoting interests of the whole market in IDF. So the existing situation may be referred to as quite an unfair one. Moreover technical regulations introduction seem to be very “quiet”, without market participation, without public discussions.

Though the expert believes, the Committee is working fine, revision and release of numerous standards to the Russian Technical Regulations count in favor of it. But the more business representatives take part in Regulations discussions – the better. It is necessary to discuss each disputable issue in Mass Media, at forums and seminars. The Committee became close to the market, presumes the expert. This may be caused by the fact, that Russian companies are losing interest in RSPMO. The Union lost its prestige, the Committee – obtained voluntarism.
