Russia and Belarus have begun talks on the dairy industry

Earlier, Еhe DairyNews reported that on April 20, the Ministry of agriculture of Russia and the Ministry of agriculture and food of the Republic of Belarus will hold talks on the dairy industry. First Deputy Minister of agriculture of the Russian Federation Dzhambulat Khatuov and Minister of agriculture and food of Belarus Leonid Zayats held talks in Moscow.
Dzhambulat Khatuov said that Russia's cooperation with Belarus has traditionally been very intensive.

"Every year in the first quarter within the Union state there are agreed the volumes of milk and dairy products supply between the countries. Today we need to develop a common methodology, approaches to pricing and balance of supply and demand for dairy products for further mutually beneficial cooperation between our countries", - said Dzhambulat Khatuov.

Leonid Zayats thanked Russian colleagues for the invitation to discuss very important issues for both countries and expressed readiness to contribute to the development and saturation of the dairy market in Russia.

"Russia has always been a fraternal country for the Republic of Belarus, we value our relations and the Russian market, targeted for many of our products," Leonid Zayats said.

Anatoly Kutsenko, Director of the Department of economy, investments and regulation of agribusiness markets, reported on the current situation, the balance of supply and demand in the dairy market of Russia. He noted that the prices of imported raw materials from the Republic of Belarus should not be lower than the established indicative, and synchronization of the methodology of customs statistics will help partner countries to monitor dairy balances more effectively.

Director of the Department of food and processing industry Yevgeny Akhpashev in his report on the price situation on the milk market in Russia stressed the need to develop common approaches to pricing in order to avoid significant fluctuations that do not have objective prerequisites and to protect the sales market of the Russian agricultural producer.

Dzhambulat Khatuov pointed out that the Ministry of agriculture of Russia considers it necessary to comply with the agreed volumes of supplies.

During the talks, there were discussed the volume of necessary imports of dairy products.

In addition, the parties analyzed the issue of creating a single Belarusian supplier, through which all deliveries of milk powder from the Republic of Belarus will be carried out to the territory of the Russian Federation at the established price.

Measures to strengthen control over the export of dairy products from the EAEU countries to Russia and fight against substandard products and falsification were also discussed.

It was decided to continue consultations in the near future.
