Protein reconsideration
In the beginning of September the first meeting of the work group devoted to the policy of commercial milk subsidies allocation was held by Vladimir Labinov, head of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Breeding at Russian Ministry of Agriculture. The way subsidies for partial cost recovery per 1 kg of commercial milk are allocated is subject to be amended. Key suggestions at the moment refer to abolishing of the fixed characteristics of protein and fat content.
The work group consists mainly of farms representatives – directors and chief specialists, its membership is ratified by the Ministry of Agriculture and may be altered by the Minister’s order only.
Meantime, Ilya Shestakov, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, considers it necessary to reconsider the group’s membership and to include both producers and processors in order the group could cover interests of the whole market.
