Official Minsk is not ready to make concession in “dairy war” with Russia

Russian government concedes a possibility of restrictive measures adoption in regard to Belorussian exporters of dairy products. Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev welcomed the Arkady Dvorkovich suggestion to initiate an anti-dumping probe in relation to EU and Belarus dairy products exporters. Russian claims refer not only to price dumping, but also to the quality of Belorussian products. Dmitry Medvedev considers it necessary to make the situation “transparent and symmetrical”, Russian processors must not meet discrimination on the Belorussian market.

Export of Belorussian dairy products to Russia grew 30% in 2013, it provides a significant part of currency supply to the Belorussian state budget. In this situation the official Minsk is unlikely to make concession in possible “dairy war” with Russia and will hope to get President Putin support.
