The ceremony was attended by Martial Rolland, general director of Nestle for Russia and Eurasia, Governor of Vologda region Oleg Kuvshinnikov, the acting mayor of Vologda Sergey Voropanov, general director of the Development Corporation of Vologda region Oksana Yakovleva and Eddie Dauphin, Director of a baby food factory Nestlé.
"The plant in Vologda is strategic for Nestlé in Russia and the CIS, the only plant producing infant formula Nestlé in Russia and Eurasia. The new factory will allow us to strengthen our leading position on the Russian market of infant formula and to develop the possibility for both domestic supply and exports," commented Martial Rolland.
Nestlé has been working in Vologda for 14 years. The construction of a factory for the production of infant formula will allow to double company's capacity in the region by 2019.
According to Head of the region Oleg Kuvshinnikov, the construction of a new plant in Vologda will not only strengthen the presence of Nestlé in the region, but will contribute to its balanced growth, the increase of the prestige of Vologda region from a socio-economic point of view. Authorities of the region have supported the investment project.
According to the company, over the last 20 years Nestlé has invested about $ 2 billion in the development of local production in Russia. The company owns 8 factories in the Russian Federation. About 70% of raw materials and 90% of the packaging on these plants are of local origin.
