The marketing Department of the retailer “Magnit” (MOEX: MGNT) was headed by Bert Vukkink, who worked for “Lenta” and Metro Cash & Carry before joining the company.

At “Magnit”, he will develop a marketing strategy in accordance with the goals of the company, optimize marketing business processes, develop a loyalty program, digital marketing, format branding, customer analytics, and evaluate the market reaction to advertising campaigns for quick adaptation of marketing activities, said the retailer.

Vukkink has almost 20 years of experience in client marketing, branding, and international advertising. Previously, he worked on the development and implementation of marketing strategies in areas such as retail and FMCG.

Today, “Magnit” is undergoing a business transformation that affects all the key areas of our work. It is important for us to understand our customers very well and communicate effectively with them in a rapidly changing environment. I am sure that Bert Vukkink will be able to help us in this task, including through deeper digitalization of marketing activities in close connection with the development of the loyalty program", said Jan Dunning, President and CEO of “Magnit” (his words are quoted in the message of the company).

Dunning joined “Magnit” in January 2019, earlier he had led the “Lenta” network for almost a decade. Following him several managers from "Lenta" joined “Magnit” last year, including Ruslan Ismailov, who was appointed to the position of Director on management of retail chain "Magnit".

“Magnit” is the largest retailer in Russia by number of stores. At the end of December, the retail chain “Magnit” comprised 20,725 thousand stores, including 14,622 thousand convenience stores. In 2013-2016, the company was the first in terms of revenue, but at the end of 2016, it lost the lead to X5 Retail (MOEX: FIVE) Group. In March 2018, “Magnit” changed its main shareholder: VTB group (MOEX: VTBR) acquired 29.1% of the retailer's shares from its founder Sergey Galitsky. With the emergence of new shareholders, “Magnit” began to change its top management team and development strategy.
