Kharon Amerkhanov: there are many unsolved problems in the dairy industry
– The breeding base of animal husbandry of Russia is represented by 14 species of farm animals, 2320 herds of pedigree farm animals, – said Amerkhanov.
The Director of the Department noted that the breeding stock in Russia in 2018 was 1018.6 thousand heads. The provision with young stock of own reproduction today is 80.9%.
– Ten years ago, this figure was much smaller. Today we provide ourselves sufficiently.
The Department pays special attention to dairy cattle breeding – today, according to Amerkhanov, this industry has the most unresolved problems.
– The main issue here is the work on the ground: breeding depends on reproduction, – said Kharon Amerkhanov.
Speaking about the situation in beef cattle breeding, the expert noted that despite the lagging behind foreign countries, the number of beef cattle has doubled in recent years. Marketable livestock is planned to be tripled by 2024.
In recent years, much has been done to create a breeding base for breeding in pig farming.
– Today in pig farming we are provided with breeding material by 98%. Prospects of development of selection in pig farming are very high, we will work on them, – commented Amerkhanov.
The number of sheep decreased by 1 million 300 thousand. According to Amerkhanov, it is due to export abroad. The Director of the Department called the situation in the industry alarming.
– There is a boom in sheep breeding now: breeding sites are being built, but the sheep is a grazing animal. The main thing is to avoid breeding with the same breed, 35-40% should belong to the fine-wool breed, noted Kharon Amerkhanov.
Speaking about the state support of livestock breeding within the "Single subsidy", Amerkhanov noted that 12 billion rubles were allocated to support the breeding business.
– Today we have reached the point that the basic cattle unit is financed at 80% in some regions, said the Director of the Department.
The most important task is to create an identification of livestock, so that all animals pass through the "Mercury" system. This year we will get 6 thousand kg per cow, and we must receive 7-7.5 thousand kg.
