In January-May Russia increased milk production by 0.9%

The production of milk (except raw milk) increased by 0.9% in January-May (in May - by 2.5%), to 2.3 million tons. Production of cheese increased by 1.4% to 185 thousand tons (in May by 2.4%). Production of butter increased by 1.1% for 5 months to 107 thousand tons (in May it decreased by 8.7%).
Production of meat (beef, pork, lamb, goat meat, horse meat, venison) increased in January-May by 9.4% compared to the same period in 2017, to 1 million 013 thousand tons, reported Rosstat on Monday.
There were produced 2 million tons of meat and poultry by-products, which is 3.6% more than in January-May last year.
In May, compared to May last year, the production of meat (without poultry) increased by 9.1%, the production of poultry meat decreased by 1.3%.
The production of meat and meat-containing semi-finished products increased by 5.9% (in May - by 6.6%), to 1.3 million tons, the production of canned meat decreased by 3.3% (in May - by 13.3%), to 225 million cans, the production of sausages decreased by 0.1% (in May it increased by 0.5%), to 893 thousand tons.
