Hein Schumacher, CEO FrieslandCampina about Corona virus (COVID-19) measures

Dear customers and business connections, these are extraordinary times for all of us. By now, far-reaching measures have been taken in the Netherlands, our home market, to slow down the spreading of the COVID-19.

As a globally operating company with almost 24,000 employees and part of a cooperative of over 17,000 dairy farmers, we are confronted with the challenges that many of you have to cope with as well.

I would like to briefly set out how we are working on making sure that you as our customers and business connections can keep relying on us for your daily high-quality nutrition.

Our first priority is the health and safety of our dairy farmers and employees. Every day again they work very hard on providing you with our good and high-quality dairy products all around the world. Continuity of our milk supply, production and business-critical supporting functions is essential here. Again we can be proud of ‘our farmers’.

What does this imply in practice?
FrieslandCampina will actively keep following the recommendations given by the appropriate bodies and experts and, if necessary, we will immediately adjust our measures.

Below I would like to clarify some of the most important measures we have taken:

  • Where possible, our employees will work from home as much as possible until 6 April 2020.
We have set up criteria for the functions that we consider to be location-based in order to ensure the continuity of our operations. These employees carry out their activities in the plants and offices in accordance with strict hygiene and safety regulations.
  • We ask all employees to observe the adjusted social codes of conduct applicable to the country in which they work and live. Examples of these are not physically greeting each other and keeping a social distance.
  • We maintain complete international travel restrictions.
  • Meetings are held on-line or by telephone. Employees do not attend any gatherings with more than 10 people.
  • We carry out stringent access controls at our production locations and the necessary and applicable protocols for a safe working environment obviously remain in full force.
  • Of course, we also pay extra attention to hygiene while collecting the milk at the farms. Avoiding contact with the drivers of the milk collection trucks as well as with visitors is part of this protocol.
  • In order to be able to continue the transport of our products, we make sure that our transporters have the appropriate extra documents to prevent delays on the road and at the borders as much as possible and so can timely deliver the products at your location.

In the coming weeks, we will keep doing our very best to enable you to keep using our products, all this despite the challenges and obstacles that we will daily have to cope with. We can do this by closely working together, as we have been used to doing within our cooperative for almost 150 years. Now and for generations to come.

Thank you very much for your confidence in FrieslandCampina.
