On November 12, 2018 Dairy Index RDRC amounted to 23.42 rubles (about 0.31 euro)/kg (excluding VAT, fat and protein content - 3.6% and 3.0% respectively), which is 0.52% higher than at the beginning of last week and 6.2% lower than in November 2017. A key factor of the growth of the index was the increase in prices for dairy products on the background of a weak ruble; the prices of raw milk in Russian regions, according to the application Index RDRC, continue to grow.

According to the application Index RDRC the weighted average price of milk in Russia last week rose by 0.32% to 22.08 rubles (about 0.29 euro)/kg, which is 7.34% lower than the price in November 2017. Last week milk prices rose in Samara and Rostov regions, the price of milk continues to grow in Moscow region.

It is worth reminding that to get access to information about the prices for raw milk in all regions of Russia, users need to get registered on the page of the application Index RDRC and enter current data on the price of raw milk on a weekly basis: http://www.dairynews.ru/company/country/russia/index/

Last week the import price index rose by 1.02% to 27.86 rubles (about 0.37 euro)/kg, which is 1% lower than in November 2017. The increase in the import price was due to an increase in the price of exchange dairy products. At the auction Trigon Dairy Trade prices for skim milk powder and whey increased, the price of butter and cheese remained at the level of previous trading. The price of butter taking into account the declined exchange rate of the ruble rose by 1.5% to 329.17 rubles (about 4.39 euro)/kg, the price of cheese rose to 238.36 rubles (about 3.18 euro)/kg, the price of whey powder increased by 4.9% to 57.13 rubles (about 0.76 euro)/kg. At the same time, the price index for dairy products at the auction GlobalDairyTrade continued to decline, only the price of skim milk powder continued to grow, whole milk powder fell in price by 2.9%.

Taking into account the above, the import price of a pair of skim milk powder + butter increased by 0.45% to 28.89 rubles (about 0.39 euro)/kg (1 kg in terms of milk). The import price of a pair of cheese + whey has increased by 1.6% to 26.79 rubles (about 0.36 euro)/kg. The price of whole milk powder fell by 0.09% to 22.86 rubles (about 0.31 euro)/kg.

Dairy Index RDRC
Dairy Index RDRC is calculated based on two key indicators, the weighted average price of milk in the Russian regions and the Index of import price. To calculate the weighted average price, the Center developed and launched a crowdsourcing application Index RDRC, which allows accumulating current data on the prices of raw milk in the Russian regions from direct market participants, producers and processors of milk. The Index of import price is determined based on the prices of key exchange dairy products – skim milk powder, whole milk powder, butter, cheese and whey powder. The prices of imported dairy products are based on the prices of dairy products of the Belarusian universal commodity exchange (BUCE) and the prices at the sites of Trigona Dairy Trade and GlobalDairyTrade.
