Dairy products consumption is decreasing in Russia – Michael Mishchenko

Dairy products consumption in Russia is decreasing in recent years. This was announced by Michael Mishchenko, Director of the Center for the Study of Dairy Market of the DairyNews (CSDM), during the IV Summer Dairy Summit which is taking place now in Baku within the VIII Dairy Olympics.
“There are several reasons for that: decrease of actual demand; high price for a number of dairy products including butter and cheese; dairy products variety reduction – in particular cheese due to embargo; “struggle with falsification” and loss of consumer confidence; widespread usage of milk fat replacers”, - said the expert.

Michael Mishchenko also pointed out important factors of Russian dairy market development – for instance announcement of interventions on the dairy market and annual growth of commercial milk production.
