Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan put a ban on Fonterra supplies

Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan negotiated the temporary ban on dairy products produced by New Zealand company Fonterra. This is according to Aleksey Alekseenko, Rosselkhoznadzor's representative.

“The decision was taken after consultations of the countries’ veterinary services heads”, - he said. The ban was put because New Zealand veterinary service hasn’t informed Rosselkhoznadzor about the contaminated products and reasons of the incident, as well as about the measures it planned to initiate to avoid contamination in the future. Lift of the ban is possible only after documents evaluation and NZ enterprises inspection.

According to Belorussian Public Health Service, Fonterra’s products were not imported into the country officially, but at the moment the institution is examining other possible ways it could be brought to the country indirectly.
