Andrey Razin: it is important to prevent a recurrence of the milk price crisis

The official stressed that the region fulfills its obligations.

- In vegetable and potato growing we will harvest more than it was planned, including about 75 thousand tons of vegetables grown in greenhouses that also exceeds target values, - noted Andrey Razin.

In terms of grain harvest, the region does not reach the record of last year (430 thousand tons), but the farmers of the region will overcome the milestone of 400 thousand tons.

- Initially, the plan was 380 thousand tons. What is nice, this year we have very good quality grain-about 80% of the harvest is food grain. This is a good result, - said the Minister.

In addition, the Moscow region has significantly increased the production of rapeseed.

- This year we had our first experience with winter rapeseed, there was planted 1.5 thousand hectares. It showed itself very well, if the experiment succeeds, then this high-margin crop will enter the market of the region. Moreover, winter rapeseed is harvested in July, this is not the peak period of harvesting and our plant growers get the first money for their farms. In addition, rapeseed is an important export position, - said Andrey Razin.

The region also has higher results in the production of milk. It is difficult to talk on the forecast of the annual result - the year is not over and the industry is working, said the Head of the Ministry of agriculture and food of Moscow region.

- You remember that at the beginning of the year there was a difficult situation with milk prices and along with efficient farms there were farms that reduced livestock because of the difficulties with the cost price. Some companies are increasing livestock and the balance is generally maintained, we expect a slight increase in production indicators. The goal of 1 million tons of milk remains the same for us, and a number of major investment projects are under way in this direction. The most important thing is to allow the industry to develop steadily, to have stable milk prices without crises like the one that was at the beginning of 2018. This was a catastrophic phenomenon, when in the season of low milk, during which the price is traditionally in a comfortable range, there was recorded a very serious lobbying rate of price decline. This damages the credibility of investors and working enterprises, which should be confident in the positive development of the industry at least in the medium term, - said Andrey Razin, stressing that the authorities of the region keep the situation on the dairy market under control.
